Gisborne Astronomical Society (GAS)- New Zealand

Welcome to GAS! Keen on exploring the Universe, then you've come to the right place!!!

GAS is a small but passionate group of astronomers who regularly observe and photograph the heavens. We hold monthly meetings on the LAST Wednesday of each month (excluding December) at the James Cook Observatory, Kaiti Hill at 7:30pm. We also hold public viewing nights at the Cook Observatory each Tuesday (7:30pm - non daylight saving, 8:30pm - daylight saving) - $5 per person.

Introduction to astronomy course! This six week course covers many aspects of astronomy and is delivered by great presenters. Thursday nights at the Cook Observatory (Kaiti Hill) - from April 26th until May 31st, 7 - 9pm. Talk and then telescope viewing! $50 for all talks. Next monthly meeting: Wednesday 28th March 2012 (7:30pm) at the Cook Observatory on Kaiti Hill. Dr John Marks will be giving a prentation, 'The Swiss Cheese Model of the Universe'. All welcome!
